Ever since I can remember I have always been drawing and painting with watercolours. Whether just crawling up in my bedroom floor with sketchbooks and paints or sketching and scribbling while travelling, it’s when I most felt at peace. Later, I went on to pursue architecture still hoping to draw, as growing up in India art wasn’t anything more than a hobby. Spending hours in design studios and workshops throughout my studies nurtured my love for anything handmade. Yet, on the race to becoming an Architect, I found less and less time to draw. In 2020, when the world went into lockdown suddenly I found myself having so much time and started watercolour painting as a way out of monotony. Those few months I explored different watercolour techniques and started learning brush and pointed pen calligraphy. I fell in love with the pointed pen. The traditional method of dipping the nib into ink and manipulating the strokes with pressure just came to me with so much ease.
